Harry Bush

Harry Bush was an American illustrator known for his homoerotic drawings during, what we now call, the vintage beefcake era.  Harry served in the Navy and Air Force during World War II when he first took up drawing. After the war he worked in the Pentagon until his retirement in the early 1960s. He was a self-trained artist, although he did take one course in drawing at a local college.  

After he retired, Bush moved to Los Angeles where he met Bob Mizer of AMG who became the first one to publish his work. Bush's work appeared several times in Physique Pictorial issues in the 1960s. His work also appeared in Drummer and In Touch among several other magazines. 

The two drawings below appeared in PP Vol 14 No 4 in June 1965. Bush did a great job capturing the image of David Mineric, a popular AMG model at the time. 

For comparison, here's David in an AMG photo that also appeared in PP magazine two years earlier. 

Here's another photo of David, this time with Jim Paris, promoting the AMG film Rambunctious Robot. It would probably surprise no one to learn Jim played the robot. I mean, the word "rambunctious" perfectly describes Mr. Paris. 

I'm sure the look David gave the camera made many hearts (and other organs) flutter. Judging by the number of times the film was promoted in PP magazine, it must have been a big seller. 

Potpourri

A potpourri of photos from my ETC folder.  That folder usually contains photos I need to review, identify (when possible) and file appropriately.  Enjoy!

The first three photos are all from AMG, but I have no model names.  Members of the Bush league will appreciate them, regardless.

That's David Mineric in the bathroom at AMG.  

This one has me stumped.  The file was labeled "Kirby Cooper" and at first glance I thought AMG, but there's something not quite right about this one.  

Bob Parkinson. 

I think his name was Terry.  A well-bejeweled model on the Old Reliable sofa.

I may have posted this photo in the past.  I've had it for years and whenever I spot this photo, I pause to ponder the beauty of it.  Possibly amateur.

David Mineric (left) is the bad lad and Jim Johnson is the jailer in the AMG film Tijuana Jail.  

Just A Gigolo

This was Tim's only film.  Mizer told us Tim was born in Ireland.  As for Jim, he did a dozen or so films for AMG and proved to a fan favorite.  David told Mizer his ultimate goal was to be a gigolo.
