The Todd Brothers

I finally got a chance to tackle my Inbox filled with emails from readers of this blog.  Last week we had a team effort to identify two models with Ray Fowle.  To some, they were known only as the Todd brothers.  Cambria, with some help from Guido, gave us their first names.  They are Allan and Lynn.

Guido was kind enough to send some additional photos from that session.  For ID purposes, Lynn has the Harlow blond hair.

And now, my favorite photo from this session.

Chain Gang

I think that's Ray Fowle on the left, but I don't recognize his friends.  Photo by AMG.

See comments.  Guido and Cambria have solved the case!  Meet the Todd brothers!   Allan Todd in the center and Lynn Todd on the right.  Great detective work from both followers!

Pistols Ready

This one was originally posted five years ago as an unknown.  Ricklane says this is Ray Fowle.  Well I'll be darned!

IMHO

The best photo I've seen yet of Ray Fowle and I think it's from AMG.  Ray was approximately twenty years old what he first posed for Bob Mizer.

More AMG Drama

Another still from the AMG film Slave Market released in 1960.  Ray Fowle is the slave in the cage offered for sale by the handsome Reed Phippen.  The potential buyer on bended knee is Don McConnell.

This was the film that introduced us to Ray Fowle.

Rare Color

Paul Compton (left) and Ray Fowle.  They were actually the same height.  Paul stood on a block for this one.

Handsome Duo

Paul Compton and Ray Fowle in a color photo by AMG.  I don't think they did a film together.  If they did, it was probably not released.

A Young Ray Fowle

The handsome Ray Fowle from Apollo.  The photo on the left has been censored.  The outfit in the photo on the right is real and I'm not sure if I like it.

More Ray Fowle

An AMG catalog page showing us the many looks of the lovely Ray Fowle. If nothing else, you've got to admire that ass!

Click to embiggen.

Hey Sailor!

Ray Fowle looks like he's ready to rumble in this AMG photo, circa 1960.

Slave Market

Ray Fowle

The cute and sexy Ray Fowle by AMG.  I think he first posed for Zenith (aka J. Zenith Studio) in a film called Teenage Beachcomber where he rolls around naked on a beach.  He then did several films for AMG and his photos were frequently published in AMG's Physique Pictorials in the 1960s.  Cute guy.

"So Joey...do you like movies about gladiators?"

No one did costume drama like Bob Mizer at AMG.  The photographer learned early that putting skimpy costumes on handsome guys and throwing them a sword or a spear helped AMG bring to life characters from a long-gone era.  And it didn't hurt if they were nearly naked.

Most all of Mizer's dramas had a moral point and it didn't take much thinking to discern it.  Good always triumphed over evil and love conquered everything.  At times it seemed the only thing missing was a musical score heavy on the violins.

One of Mizer's first costume dramas was Slave Market, released in 1960.  With a cast of eight models, including fan favorites like Joe Leitel, Reed Phippen, Ray Fowle and John Krivos, this was sure to be an AMG hit.  While Mizer never released sales info on his films, I suspect this one did do very well for him.  The film was promoted in several brochures throughout the 1960s, right up to the end of the posing pouch era.

Below are some stills from Slave Market.  Top photo: That's Ray Fowle in the cage with handsome Reed Phippen standing on the right.  The guy with the flowers in his hair (or is that a laurel?) is Don McConnell who did a lot of work for Zenith Films.
