Ed's First Film

In 1946, Ed Fury appeared in his first Hollywood film Because of Him, a musical comedy starring Deanna Durbin.  Ed had an uncredited role.  Ten years later, Zenith/Apollo put Ed in a physique film with the same name.  I don't think that's a coincidence.

That's handsome Bob Treichia (aka, Bob Foss) on the left with Frank Hlivjka from the Apollo film The Captives.

Thanks to Brian!

Apollo Man

Bruce Reed did a lot of work for Apollo, but photos are hard to find.  One of the big guys!

Help Wanted

Bob Storr in the 1958 Apollo film Wanted Model.

Bob plays a photographer who welcomes Steve Wengryn to his studio for a photo session.  Bob is wearing the trashiest pair of homemade jorts ever put on film. Steve has already stripped down to his briefs due to the heat.  Bob proceeds to have Steve model several different outfits for the camera.  If you want plot, stream I, Claudius.

Steve and Jim also did film work at AMG.

Prep Work

Kip Behar and Don Fuller in the Apollo film Date With The Boys released in 1955.

The film was a behind the scenes look on how models prepare for a photo shoot.

Danny DeWhis

I know he posed for AMG in the early 1970s, but I'm fairly certain this is from Apollo.

Wrestling Buddies

John Hadnagy falls into Joe Leitel's arms in this photograph used to promote the Apollo film Greek & Roman Olympic Wrestling.

Nice Catch

Don Fuller looks damn sexy in that fishnet brief.  Photo by RA Enterprises (Apollo/Zenith).

Two Bobs

Bob Starr and Bob Lynnwood by Apollo.  In the Zenith film Bodies in the Rain the two guys pose and wrestle in the rain.  I've never seen that one, but I've seen photos from some promo that may have appeared in Physique Pictorial.

Re-Pete

Four more photos of Pete Caputo from Brian's personal collection.

In addition to his work with AMG, Pete did a couple of films for Apollo/Zenith.  One of them was released in 1953.  The AMG film with Lou La Venture was made around 1961.  Comparing these photos with Pete's AMG photos, it's clearly the same model; however, I think Pete looks older in the Apollo photos.

He's still looks fine to me.  Thanks, Brian!

Fishnet

An early photo of Don Fuller by Apollo.  At first I thought this was the first time I've seen Don naked -- well, just about naked.  But Don posed au naturel for Bruce of LA.

Don Fuller

Yesterday the great blog Vintage Muscle Men posted the top photo in this series of photos of the awesome looking Don Fuller.  Like me, he was not able to identify the photographer.  We both have a guess or two, but no confirmation.  Is anyone out there who can solve the mystery.  BTW, Don posed for numerous photographers and it would be difficult to pick a favorite, but this top one would be in the running.

The second photo is from Bruce of LA and gives us a great view of the backside of Big Don.  The last photo is by Apollo.  Don starred in the Apollo film In The Flesh where he falls asleep while reading a book about the Aztecs and dreams of being an Aztec warrior.

A Young Ray Fowle

The handsome Ray Fowle from Apollo.  The photo on the left has been censored.  The outfit in the photo on the right is real and I'm not sure if I like it.

That's Some VPL He's Got There!

AMG model Link Ramon in a photo I believe is from Apollo.  Link also did some work for R.A. Enterprises so that's a possibility, too.

Link often appeared with his friend, roommate, lover (whatever) Johnny Yuma when he worked at AMG.  They had matching necklaces, too.

Davis & Hadnagy

Joe Davis (left) and John Hadnagy did a film for Apollo titled Odds and Ends in 1965.  The film was made on the AMG lot and I suspect his photo is from that session.
