Butch Umbenhauer (left) and Danny Taylor in the frequently occupied AMG shower.
Based on the other photos I posted of these two conserving water, I would say Danny was a fun shower mate. Hey, I'd wash his back! 😋
A collection of classic male physique photos from the 20th century with an emphasis on the thousands of men who posed for Athletic Model Guild (AMG).

Ken Magnus and Butch Umbenhauer in the AMG film Surfer & the Samurai released in 1972. This is page 8 of Physique Pictorial Vol. 21 (July, 1972). Here we learned Butch's first name was Elmer. Whenever I hear that name I think of the cartoon character with that signature line "Oh you wascawwy wabbit!"
I posted the two shower photos earlier this month hoping to get a name for the model with Butch Umbenhauer. Cambria sent the penultimate photo identifying him as Danny Taylor. Vinny313 sent the last photo and told me he thinks this was Danny's only work at AMG. Thanks guys!
Thanks to Cambria and Brian our Smiling Hunk on the right has been identified. That's Danny Taylor with Butch Umbenhauer. I'll post the photographic evidence Cambria provided soon.
Brian says Mr. Umbenhauer was also known as Butch Mumford. Thanks guys!
I recently developed a new appreciation for the model Butch Umbenhauer. He was originally an unknown I saw in many Wyngate & Bevins photos from their "naked men in the outdoors" films. Butch looked younger in those photos from 1967 and 1968.
Butch's work at AMG started around the same time Mizer went full nude, 1969. Here are a few photos from some of his early work at that studio.

Here are a few more AMG photos of Butch where he was paired up with another AMG model.
Here's Butch with Gary Holmes in what looks like some Christmas film from Mizer. I don't think I've ever seen it and I can't find it in any of my resources.

I posted this photo a while back and Cambria helpfully identified this as Butch from DSI. This was the photo that had me look at Butch in a whole new light. A little older and beefier. I had lust in my heart.
I have no attribution for the next two photos, but I suspect they are also from DSI.
Many thanks to Brian E. for completing my collection of Butch Umbenhauer photos. Perhaps before this decade is over we'll have a name for the unknown model in the back row. He showed up in a number of W&B films.
Thanks again, Brian!
Cambria was kind enough to send me these photos of Butch from the same session of the photo I posted yesterday.
It's time for a few more models I have been unable to identify. I suspect most, if not all of them, are amateur, so I doubt I'll get any names. Regardless, these guys from back then get honorable mention from this blogger.
Update: Thanks to Cambria for identifying this one!
Butch Umbenhauer by DSI. I must say he matured very nicely! Click his label to see a young and skinny Butch.
Butch Umbenhauer and Alan Kirk wrestled each other on the AMG mats in 1969. Here they are in Physique Pictorial Vol 18 No. 1 (Jan, 1970) to promote the film. Mizer gave Butch a star of approval, but warned us the guy was a thief. Alan got a big question mark for his analysis, meaning Mizer didn't know much about him. Fortunately, Mizer did tell us Alan was generously endowed...if we didn't notice. 😋
Yet another photo of the cast of Wyngate & Bevins film Eight Athletes where a group of guys enjoy the great outdoors in the nude. Thanks to Brian E. who helped identify many of these guys in the past, I have only one model who remains unidentified.
From the left: Enrique Nieves, unknown, John King, Butch Umbenhauer, Bob Zimmerman, Jim Wayne and Tommy Evans.
Someone colorized a Wyngate & Bevins photo and put it on the cover of the first issue of M.A.N. magazine. (Was there a second issue?)
That's Bob Jackson smiling in the center and Enrique Nieves can be seen crouching in the back. I'm sure Brian E. will be along shortly to add a few more names.
Update: Brian had names for several of these men. See comments.
BTW...this is from the film Eight Male Nudists.
Butch Umbrenhauer (right) shares the AMG shower with an unknown (to me) hunk who looks like he would be a fun shower mate. I'd really like to get a name for the smiling hunk.
The Smiling Hunk on the left is Danny Taylor. Thank, Brian!
I'm sure this is another Wyngate & Bevins photo and I know it's not all that clear, but I've been trying to see if I can identify a few of these guys.
Back row, from the left: Butch Umbenhauer, Jim Wayne and Tommy Evans. Front row, left is Bob Jackson, John King and some guy who I've seen in several W&B films, but I can't identify.
Special thanks to Brian who has been a huge help in identifying models.
A set of photos by Wyngate & Bevins from the late 1960s. While W&B made movies, they also sold photos of their models whether or not they were from a movie. I think these photos are a mix of both scenarios and many of them are from the film Ramona.
The problem is W&B rarely identified the models. Fortunately many of the models also did work with AMG and fans of that studio should be able to put names to the faces and other body parts. Well, maybe not all of the body parts. For many of the AMG models this may have been the first time their fans got to see them without a posting pouch.
First up is Jim Horn (left) and Brian Idol.
Two more photos of Butch Umbenhauer (left) and Marty Vogelsberg by AMG. I had a boner for Marty -- mostly from the photos he did with the AMG three way mirror. Click his label to see those photos.
