I've recently been doing research on several AMG models and this guy was a tough nut to crack.  He was originally from Ohio and his real name was Michael (possibly La Vonce, or some variation there of).  Michael was a construction foreman in LA and got that awesome body working out at Vic Tanny's gym, which is probably where Bob Mizer discovered him -- although that's a guess on my part.  He was married and one source stated his wife did not like the fact he was posing for photos nearly naked.  That may explain why he didn't pose for any other SoCal photographers.  

More Juwa

Two photos of Juwa La Vonce that appeared in Physique Pictorial Vol 12, No 3 published in January 1963.  

The blurb on the first photo tells us Juwa was 29 years old, which I found surprising.  That would put his birthdate around 1932.  However, somewhere in one of Mizer's mags we were told Juwa was born in 1937 -- shaving five years off his age.  I would say the 1937 date is more accurate. 

Mizer listed Juwa's stats as: 5ft 10in and 170 lbs.  Maybe it's those arms, but he appeared to be so much larger.

One of my favorite AMG models from the posing pouch era is this handsome stud with the unusual name of Juwa La Vonce.  He did quite a few posing sessions and several films, but I don't recall learning anything about this guy other than the usual stats.

We never learned much about this guy with the awesome biceps.  To my knowledge, his only film work for AMG was a solo posing session.  He did several photo sessions in the early 1960s and many of his photos appeared in some of the Physique Pictorial issues in the early 1960s.
