Eight models pose on the AMG rooftop in 1967 to promote the film Eight Athletes. I saw this one a few years ago, but now I can't find it in my collection. Most of the action takes place in the desert (Mojave?) then the guys return to the studio and do a few pool and rooftop shots. Unfortunately, only four of the models were identified -- and for three of the four, I didn't need them to be identified.
From the right, starting with the second guy in, is Sam Hunter, Joe Iannini and Gerald Sullivan. As for the other four guys, I have never seen them in any other AMG films or photos.
I think this may have been Jerry Sullivan's last film. His career at AMG lasted at least three years.
Update: First on the left is Jim Barckley. Next to him is Joe Cyr. Third from the left is Jim Giussi.
Thanks for posting this commentary! I have these photos correctly identified as AMG, but I had no info on the models' names or the film context.
ReplyDeleteIn my files I have them named as (L-R): Jim Barclay, Unknown, Jim Guissi (aka Jim Paige), Unknown, Jerry Sullivan, Jim Barkley, Sam Hunter, Unknown. I have a photo of a Joe Iannini with a model named J.D. Gregg, and this Joe Iannini is definitely not the guy on the left, who I have many photos of as Jim Barclay.
ReplyDeleteThe Model 2nd from the LEFT is Joe Cyr.
DeleteWell, Cambria, if you're indeed right, and that guy 2nd from left is Joe Ed Cyr, you've amazed me (and I presume, James, too) as we are both huge fans of hunky Joe! It's hard to be sure. I paused the video at a certain point where his face is pretty clear and I'm very much inclined to agree with you.
DeleteThe reason James and everyone else have had so many problems identifying the models in "Eight Athletes" is because it was a Wyngate & Bevins film that was filmed at AMG by Bob Mizer. Sam Ratner was the owner of W&B and he frequently hired Mizer to shoot nude films that Ratner directed. Mizer wouldn't put his name or AMG on these nude films for fear of being arrested. Mizer also photographed still images of sexual acts between models that he (Mizer) wouldn't distribute for Ratner. Almost all of the models in these films and photos were AMG models who Ratner paid for. Often there were extra models in a film that are unnamed in films people think are AMG films, but were shot by Bob Mizer for W&B and Mizer never recorded the model's name. It was smart for Bob Mizer that he took these precautions. Sam Ratner and W&B were prosecuted for obscenity for doing this (Bob Mizer was not) and given 5 years in Prison and fined $35,000. I spoke with an individual who was there that day and assured me the model was Joe Cyr and provided with photographic proof. I am waiting on better photos being sent now before sending to you and James.
DeleteI doubt there are two Jim Barckleys in these Eight Athlete photos. Either way, the "other" Jim Barckley you have posted on your blog (link below) isn't even in any of these photos from Eight Athletes. I even looked on the PosingStrap TV site for this film, and the "other" Barckley isn't even shown on that page. I think there's a major misidentification going on with the "other" one. Have a look at the "other" one and compare him to the models seen in the Eight Athlete photos...he's nowhere to be seen. His body type, chest hair, junk, and everything else is completely different.

You can watch the video on ThisVid by typing the name into the search bar. Here is a link if you like. I think there is a way to download the video but I don't know how to do it. The quality looks pretty good.
