Before He Was Famous

Bob Mizer often claimed he was the first one to photograph Joe Dallesandro and he's probably right on that fact.  It was a short professional relationship, though.  Soon after posing for AMG, Joe left California and found his way to Andy Warhol's The Factory on East 47th Street.  Joe's handsome looks and his willingness to pose nude -- including one scene with a full erection -- quickly developed Joe a fan base.  For Mizer, Joe was the one that got away and one of his greatest regrets was he let that happen.
