Before He Was Famous
Joe Dallesandro cleans up on the AMG shower.
Joe posed for Mizer just before heading to New York where Andy Warhol made him a star. Mizer liked to tell people he discovered Joe -- and technically he was correct. But Andy made Joe a star.
"Little Joe" (as Lou Reed and others often referred to him) came from a tough background; both his parents were convinced felons. He was often hired as "security" by Andy Worhal, and others, for their wild parties and events. Even at 5'3 or 4" tall, few people would take him on.
