Portrait of a Killer

Introducing Paul Ferguson.

Mizer published the top photo -- from Kris of Chicago -- in one of his Physique Pictorials back in the late 1960s and gave us the sordid details of Paul's crime.

On the afternoon of October 30, 1968, Paul and his younger brother Tommy went to Ramon Navarro's home on Laurel Canyon Blvd.  Navarro was a silent film star who made it into the "talkies" and was a well known celebrity at the time.  What was not well known was Ramon often hired rent boys to stop by his place for assignations.

Through an acquaintance Paul and Tommy secured an invitation to Ramon's place.  The brothers were told (incorrectly) that Ramon had a lot of cash in his home.  Once inside Navarro's residence, Paul tied up Ramon and started to torture him to give up all his money.  Navarro died during the torture.

I don't need to give all the details because there is a wealth of information available on the internet.  A good place to start is from Out magazine:

  1. I've always found these pictures to be really freaky. I think because first you look at his penis, then you see he has an almost vulnerable look, then you realize he is a murderer and he doesn't look vulnerable any more. Calculated to cause dis-ease.
