Were Douglas of Detroit and Denny Denfield one and the same? Scuse my ignorance, I'm still new at this, but Mike at Male models vintage beefcake attributes this photo to Denfield.
No, Douglas of Detroit and Denny Denfield were very different photographers. Denfield was strictly amateur using California Bay Area nude beaches, usually San Francisco, as his background. Douglas was a professional photographer who paid his models using his indoor studio. Douglas’s models and photos show a noticeably more polished and refined result. Hopefully that helps BD.
Damn, he's handsome! A bit pale, though. I guess Detroit in Winter was not a place to get tan lines, though.

ReplyDeleteUpon further review, I agree this is from Denny Denfield. Thanks!
