  1. Two of my favorites...even if they aren't naked.

  2. Bob Mizer's prop department was hit and miss here. The gun and the war bonnet are reasonably authentic. (I had to look it up, but yes, they did wear those head pieces into battle.) That "tomahawk," however, is a combination hatchet/hammer that was a very popular handyman's tool in the 50s. They're still around in updated versions. Having said all that, I really like this picture, particularly the wild look in John Manning's eyes.

    1. I admire your research for authenticity. As for John, he often made "crazy" facial expressions in the films he did. I kinda liked it when he did. It made me smile.

    2. I recently spoke with one of John Manning's adult children. John and Jim are both deceased. Joe, who was indeed the youngest Brother, is still alive. John was married several times and had 30 children. The Manning Brothers were all Native Americans from the Hunkpappa and Oglala Lakota tribe from Sitting Bulls band in Standing Rock South Dakota.!!

    3. It is true. John Manning's Daughter has been very kind to me and answered many of my questions. She knew about her Father posing as a model nude and he was never ashamed of that. I asked her to find out why John relocated back to Oregon and why he came to LA in the first place. She is going to ask Johns Sister who is alive because she is not sure. More to come in the next few weeks.!!
