It's Pat Milo Day at MFBT and we've got the photos to celebrate his legacy.
Over the years I have found very little biographical information on Pat's life. IMO, his work most closely resembles that of Bruce Bellas, aka Bruce of LA. Like Bruce, Milo often photographed models who had posed for Bob Mizer of AMG -- with one clear distinction. Milo photographed the models fully nude and often fully aroused. For this AMG fan, finding Milo photos of a model who had previously posed for Bob Mizer was like putting whipped cream on your sundae. Sweet!
First up is Ricky Parker, not to be confused with the tall and handsome Rick Parker at AMG. (I kind of put a huge hole in my dissertation here, didn't I?)
Pat Milo (James Patrick) started with Lyle Frisby in physique photography in 1953
ReplyDeleteMilo was born in 1911, moved to Los Angeles in the 1950s,
met Frisby and started his physique photography career. Frisby died in 1958 and Milo started his own studio in 1959 using photos by Frisby from the start til Milo used his own. Before Frisby's death, Milo took photography extension courses at UCLA were he met the legendary Hollywood glamour photographer George Hurrell and received advise on photographic techniques. (diffused side lighting, under exposed and over developed verichrome pan film) He photographed thru the 60s and finally stopped in Sept. 1969 with his death.

Thanks for the capsule bio. I like Milo's work, but knew nothing about him.
