The top photo in this post recently appeared over at Jerry's excellent blog VMM and my first thought was how much the guy on the left looked like AMG model Shan Daymore. I've posted plenty of photos of Shan in the past, so I did some compare and contrast and thought my hunch was pretty much on spot. I commented so on his blog and an anonymous reader added he thought the other guy was Jim Lassiter (aka, Larry Lamb). The lightbulb went on over my head. Yeah, he was right. I also commented it was the first time I've seen either of the two sans posing pouch. I was almost right. Roughly two and a half years ago I posted one uncredited nude photo of Jim.
Jerry commented this photo is from Mike Scott and the photographer was known to have had ties with Bob Mizer. That makes sense and it makes me wonder if there are any more AMG models who tossed the pouch and posed for Mr. Scott. Shan and Jim were active with AMG from approximately 1961 through 1963. I can think of several models from that period I'd like to see au natural.

ReplyDeleteOh, James, I've got a few more nude shots of Mr Daymor and a few more of Jim Lassiter (some even nude together!). I'll send you my collection of both (nudes only for now). Jim is a personal favourite.
ReplyDeletePS I have a few rear shots of Dan and Jim (solo and with others). I can send these too, if you'd like.
DeleteSure!
DeleteThe second Milo picture is a fine example of why he is a great photographer. Thanks for the link and for posting these!
ReplyDeleteWhy was Pat Milo so reliable at getting full frontal nudity from so many models during the Posing Strap era.? Often with many of these Models Pay Milo would be the only Photographer to get true nude Photos before 1968. I always wondered how he did it?
ReplyDeleteSame with Bruce. He photographed John Manning fully nude in 1957! Maybe it was money.
DeleteThere have always been men willing to show off what they've got. Money helps, but some would do it just for the hell of it. In the case of physique photography prior to 1968, the legal risk to the models was relatively remote. With only a few exceptions, it was the photographers who went to jail if the authorities cracked down.
DeleteWould these fully nude photos still be published prior to 1968.?Or were they just for private clients?
DeleteThey could not be published in the sense of appearing in magazines or books. They were distributed, however, mainly through mail order and, in some cases, via arranged in person meetings between photographers and customers. Although there were prosecutions for obscenity, most of the legal charges against photographers that I know of were brought by postal authorities for using the mail to distribute obscene material. The in person sales sessions were a way to avoid the postal inspectors. I can't remember who, but at least one photographer did extensive multi-state sales tours.
ReplyDeleteVakker fysiske portretter av Shan Daymore, som visjoner fra antikkens Hellas.
ReplyDeleteKlassisk stil av Milo.
