Physique Pictorial Vol. 7 No. 2 (Part 1 of 3)

Today I'm posting most of the pages of AMG's Physique Pictorial Volume 7 Number 2 published in the summer of 1957.  This was Bob Mizer's publication used to promote photographs of his new models or returning fan favorites. By the 1960s it became a major source used to advertise new 8mm and 16mm films available by mail.

-----------

It seems appropriate to find Joe Leitel on the cover of this issue. This was Joe's first year at AMG and he became a frequent visitor to that studio.  Mizer would release two, three and sometimes four issues of PP per year.  At least one of Joe's photos would appear in nearly every issue well into the 1960s. That might be a record.

Rodeo contestant Tex Fraysher makes a return visit to AMG.

Ronald Amick from AMG.

Steven "Steve" Wengryn from Passaic, New Jersey appeared in PP the year before this issue. Apparently Steve's photos in PP and other bodybuilding magazines caused quite a stir with the ladies and -- although left unsaid -- I'm sure with a few gents.  Mizer told us many young lasses contacted the mayor of Passaic to get Steve's home address, creating an avalanche of fan mail at his door.

Chris Francone in a photo by David DeCessare of NYC.

Andre Pilon took 2nd place in the Junior Mr. Montreal contest after training for only six months.  Photo by Mark One of Quebec.  Mizer frequently promoted other photographers and artists in his magazine.

Glen Robinson by AMG. He would become better known as Glenn Corbett for his roles in the TV series Route 66 and Dallas as well as several big screen films.

Jim Grant returned by popular demand.

  1. at least mizer let his mag be used to showcase other photogs.
Pilon looks great, some exaggeration on the wengryn bio though.

    1. I always took Mizer's comments with a grain of salt.

  2. Une tranche de virilite sous toutes ses formes en 1957.
Ravi de voir notre propre Andre Pilon et Mark One-Alan Stone (notre Mizer) de Montreal, vive Quebec.

  3. Does any one know the meaning of all the codes that he had on his models? Like he is straight or gay or for rent etc.
