Paul had a long and varied career as an actor, director and producer, as well as a private investigator.  In the 1970s Paul appeared in a few mainstream television shows and movies.  At the same time, he also started his porn work appearing in a few straight and gay porn films, often playing the dominant DILF in the latter.  

Paul holds the distinction of being the first (and possibly the only) man to appear on the cover of Playboy magazine.  In the March, 1975 issue, he did a duo photo session with Cassandra Peterson, who would later become much better known as Elvira, Mistress of the Dark.  

In the mid-1990s Paul stepped behind the camera and directed roughly ten gay vids, often with a military theme.  If he appeared in any of the videos, he had a non-sexual role. As a producer, he had many straight and gay titles to his credit.
