Calafran Studio photgraphed BUZZ HANLEY in 1970. Calafran was a mix of the name "California" and "San Francisco." Photographer J. Brian and publisher Bob Damron founded Calafran Studio in San Francisco in 1967 in the wake of the liberalization of U.S. obscenity laws. Calafran published magazines in a cheap 5 by 7 inch format, including Golden Boys and Times Square, and they also sold sets of photos early on. Damron did the travel guides for all things Gay in the USA. Not sure if they still publish those or are now all online.
