WPG spelled his name as DICK KIEFER and said he moved to Denver as a teen with his family because his asthma was so bad living in Minnesota. He was Mr. Colorado at age 21.
Paul Labriola (1932-2009) by Don Whitman, one of the competitors in the Mr Colorado contest (1950-1972) run by Whitman, Lee Workman and Phil Dewald. All outdoor shots (like this photo 1953) were done at idyllic Hidden Valley near Franktown CO. Most of Whitman's models were from the Denver area. Models would either stay at Whitman's house or if they were from out of state, Whitman put then up at the Royal Motel. The amicable Don Whitman, at times, would treat his models to meals at Zietz's Restaurant and Patsys Inn Restaurant in Denver. Don had lasting friendships with many of his models, some helped with the clean-up of his studio after a severe flood struck Dnver in 1965. -Rj
'n Pragtige beeld van aard van 'n aantreklike man, met sy fyn liggaamsbou is Labriola soos 'n standbeeld antieke Hellas. Daar word gese dat Labriola 'n intieme gunsteling van Whitman was vir wie hy baie keer geposeer het. -Praetorius
I thought I had a couple shots of this man, but now I can't find them. And I THINK I had his name as Keiffer. If I find them, I will send them.
