Years ago I read a blurb on John Davidson that said "John was a Champion model who also posed for AMG." I remember thinking that was a strange way to put it since I've never seen evidence of his work at Champion. Well, the top photo here is all the evidence I need; however, due to all of the work he did for Bob Mizer, I still consider John an AMG model.
He looks too much like a little boy for my taste.
ReplyDeleteJOHN DAVIDSON posed Nude for Champion Studios right after his 19th Birthday in December 1964. JOHN was from Bronxville New York a wealthy suburb of NYC and only 15 miles from Champion Studios in Manhattan. JOHN would go to California for the Marines in January 1965 and meet and amaze Bob Mizer at AMG. An impressive model for what he did at age 19 he died in Okinawa on his way to Vietnam from Japanese Encephalitis on July 5, 1965.

DeleteBob Mizer had a rule that with new models he would not release a short film until at least 10 people wrote in promising to buy it. With Butch Davidson Mizer broke his own rule. JOHN was well liked by Mizer and others and Mizer was truly shocked by his death. Mizer released most of his short films but not all.
