Here's a recent find at an online auction site. Four photos from AMG with no other information. I don't recognize the set, but it wouldn't surprise me learn it was Mizer's own kitchen. The guy on the right does look vaguely familiar.
Brian got it! That's George Savage on the right. That is, a young George Savage. After much discussion, Cambria confirmed with BMF that the other model is Bob Saputo. Photos taken in Mizer's boarding house in 1958.
The guy on the right is George Savage. I've been 'harvesting' this online seller's photos too and I recognised him. I don't have a name for his friend.
ReplyDeleteBy George, you've got it! (See what I did there?) My guess is this was one of, if not THE first appearance at AMG. He looks younger.

ReplyDeleteThe Guy on the LEFT is Bob Saputo. George Savage and Bob Saputo were in a 1958 AMG b&w short film called "Street Fight". The photos come from the AMG Catalog for "Street Fight". The dirty kitchen set was the Boarding House Mizer bought in the late 1950s that was next door to his Mothers Home. He used the Boarding House to give some AMG models a place to stay. Delia Mizer did not allow the models to live in her home or on the AMG compound while she was alive.(She passed away in 1964). So Mizer used the Boarding House that he bought to house models like George Savage and Bob Saputo in the late 1950s. George and Bob were like 18/19 at the time.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it is Bob(by) Saputo with George and given your first comment (now removed) you're not so sure either. In most of my photos of Bobby Saputo he is sporting some chest hair and fairly hairy legs (not to mention a lovely furry bum!). The young man here with George seems a lot smoother and I think his nose is slightly straighter than Bobby Saputo's.
DeleteIt is Saputo. He was the other model in "Street Fight" and all of these photos are from the "Street Fight" catalog. The BMF told me they were sure as Mizer personally recorded these 2 Men living in the Boarding House in 1958 when he took these photos.I deleted my previous comment after receving the BMF response about these photos.
DeleteOk, I'll have to bow to the BMF's authority. Maybe Bob just did some growing up regarding secondary sexual characteristics, LOL!
DeleteI also had doubts on whether it was Bob. I'm glad you both weighed in on this. Thanks!
DeleteThe BMF has photos where Bob Saputo's body is hairless when he first began posing for Bob Mizer. He was a Vulcan model before Mizer. Mizer asked Saputo to shave off all of his body hair so he would look like a Statue. The Nose Issue I can not explain really.
ReplyDeleteJames, that does not look at all like Bob Saputo to me. I sent you several emails, and wonder if you got them since you don't post the images I send you. I sent you a wonderful set of Bob Saputo, and we was much more fit than this guy. Email me if you want me to resend, but It seems like either they are going to your spam folder they are getting screened if maybe Im sending files too large for your email. LMK
ReplyDeleteSorry. Please send them again. Thanks!
