The building to the right was said to be the famous Muscle House at 1659 Ocean Front Walk, Muscle House was actually a boarding house at 160 Hill Street in Santa Monica owned by Fleurette Joy Crettaz. (today the site is a parking lot). Muscle Beach was closed down when Pacific Ocean Pier was closed and redeveloped as Pacific Ocean Park, the city fathers feared the venues at Muscle Beach would compete with the venues at POP and so Muscle Beach had to go. -Rj
