When Ray Robirds was alive he mentioned his disappointment with LA one time. In one post on FB (since deleted) Ray said he went to LA to be a Star and after 6 years decided it was time to go. So he packed up his Car and left and never returned. Ray never talked about his Physique Modeling with Mizer, BOLA, HRM or Wyngate & Bevins. There is no mention of any of that when he passed away and I think that part of his life was never shared with his family.
I agree with Cambria, I knew he passed, but thanks for posting the obit. Ray fell in that very brief period when the posing strap fell for good. Everything I have ever read about him indicated he was kind and generous. Mizer called him the lover. I think the only models who might share their posing life with family would be hardcore bodybuilders and perhaps some outgoing gay or sexually adventurous men. And even then, it's usually hidden. There are indeed exceptions to that. Even through Mike Sill was Mormon, his family included a physique pose on his tombstone! I am working with Louie Rightmire's niece, and she suggested having the same thing done for his headstone! James - we really need to discuss a post for him, hit me up. RIP Ray - Your photos ensure you'll live on in our memories forever.
